LEEPER, Frances P. -- Frances P. LEEPER, 94, formerly of Brighton, died late Thursday, Jan. 23, 2009 (sic - Thursday was the 22nd), at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

LEEPER, Frances P. -- Frances P. LEEPER, 94, formerly of Brighton, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Brighton United Church, with the Rev. Sallie Graves officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Open visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the church, with the family present from 6-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Brighton United Church may be left at the church or may be mailed to the family at 4020 30th St., Des Moines 50313.

Mrs. LEEPER was born Sept. 28, 1914, in Harper, the daughter of Charles E. and Christina SANER DERBY. She married Clifford W. LEEPER July 6, 1934, in Wheaton, Ill. He died Dec. 10, 1999.

Mrs. LEEPER's family moved to Rubio, and she graduated from Brighton High School. She worked alongside her husband on their family farm in rural Washington County for more than 50 years. She also had worked in the kitchen at United Presbyterian Home in Washington, where she had resided since 2002.

She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble.

Survivors include two daughters, Lelani CLARK of Big Springs, Texas, and Beth JOHNSON and husband Bill of Des Moines; two sons, Clifford F. LEEPER of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Charles LEEPER of Brighton; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Thelma HORSEY of Washington; and one brother, Howard DERBY of Burlington.

In addition to her huswband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Katheryn WEST; one son, Ben LEEPER; two grandchildren; three brothers, Edwin, Charles and Norval DERBY; and six sisters, Mabel ROSENBAUM, Mildred EVANS, Letha RUDOLPH, Elma HECKERT, Daisy LEEPER and Bernice BENNETT.
