Mrs. Mary Ann STEELE died Oct. 30 at the home of her son, J. W. STEELE, in Meckling, S.D., age 87-11-6. In her death the Linby-Packwood area lost one of its prominent pioneers. Born Nov. 24, 1853, in Jefferson County, daughter of Nathan and Minerva Jane (SMITH) HUDDLESTON; married Apr. 7, 1870, Wm. H. STEELE; seven children. Surviving: Rolla of Wagner, S.D.; Ella BEEM, Vermillion, S.D.; Lee and John of Meckling, S.D., and Frank of Packwood, Iowa. Her husband, two children, Clarinda LINDER and Otto, also two sisters, one brother, one half-brother, and one half-sister preceded her. 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren survive. Also the following half-brothers and sisters: Wm. H. HUDDLESTON, Seattle, Wash.; Cora, Denver, Col; Guy and Ray of Lone Rock, Ore.; and Bessie of Portland, Ore.; one brother-in-law, M. P. STEELE of Meckling, S.D. and one sister-in-law, Ella STEELE of Boulder, Col. Methodist and Baptist.
