PACKWOOD, Ia. -- Mrs. Emma SASSEEN, 86, died at 9:30 a.m. today at the home of Helen Hadley in Richland.... Born Sept. 18, 1877, near Packwood, daughter of William and Ann KENDALL PAXTON (sic). She spent most all of her life in Jefferson County. April 30, 1902, married Austin SASSEEN at the home of the bride's parents in the Center community near Packwood; husband died May 22, 1942. Member Methodist Church in Packwood. Survived by three sons and three daughters: Houston SASSEEN, Fairfield; Russell SASSEEN, Packwood; Dale SASSEEN, Richland; Mrs. Walter HUBER, Ottumwa; Mrs. Bernard ROBERTS, Richland; Mrs. Cedric WOLCOTT, Knoxville; two sisters: Mrs. Effie CAMPBELL, Richland, and Mrs. Sadie GARDNER, Packwood; one brother, Fred PAXSON, Packwood; 17 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren.
