WILLHOIT, Max -- Max WILLHOIT, 90, formerly of Batavia, died at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Prairie View United Methodist Church near Ollie, with the Rev. Dave Nolte officiating. Burial will be in the Batavia Cemetery.

Visitation begain at 10 a.m. today at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the family present from 5-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Batavia Lions Club, Prairie View United Methodist Church, American Society for Autism or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Mr. WILLHOIT was born Sept. 1, 1918, in Moulton, the son of Glenn and Fannie Irene DAVIS WILLHOIT. He married Vera BENTLEY April 13, 1941, in Ames.

Mr. WILLHOIT was a graduate of Farson High School and Iowa State University, where he majored in agriculture. He farmed all his life.

Mr. WILLHOIT was a member of Prairie View United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, Batavia Lions Club, Kilwinning Masonic Lodge No, 198 AF & AM and KAABA Shrine. He had served on the Cardinal Community School District Board of Directors.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Janice MILLHOUSER of Mansfield, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Denise PAXTON of Ollie; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl WILLHOIT of Batavia; and one sister, Helen DOAK of Washington, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Larry WILLHOIT.
