Earl FERGUSON

Earl FERGUSON, long-time resident of Jefferson county, passed away about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at his farm home seven miles southeast of Fairfield.

He had been in failing health for the past three years but his death yesterday was sudden and unexpected.

Last rites will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home with the Rev. William Moorhouse, Des Moines, in charge, assisted by the Rev. Carl Rayburn, Stockport. Burial will be in the Packwood Cemetery.

Earl FERGUSON, 71, was born June 28, 1886, at Fremont, Iowa, the son of the late Elijah and Martha Ann ROBERTS FERGUSON. He was united in marriage on June 23, 1909, to Mary SCARBOROUGH who survive. The wedding took place at Oskaloosa. He was a member of the Fremont Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by the following children: Helen FERGUSON, Fairfield; Don FERGUSON, Donnellson; Mrs. Elsie BARKER, Keota; Stanley FERGUSON, Fairfield; Edwin FERGUSON, Keosauqua.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Mary DINSMORE, Fremont; and two brothers, Carl FERGUSON, Oskaloosa, and Clarence FERGUSON, Richland.

He was preceded in death by parents, one brother and six grandchildren.
