ZUEHLKE, Marie Caroline -- Marie Caroline ZUEHLKE, 89, of Eldon, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

A celebration of Mrs. ZUEHKLE's life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Eldon United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bob Dvorak officiating. Interment will follow at Eldon Cemetery in Eldon.

Open visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon, with family visitation from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to Eldon United Methodist Church.

Mrs. ZUEHLKE was born Dec. 8, 1918, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Charles C. and Jennie BOWERS BOOTH. She married Walter W. ZUEHLKE May 14, 1994, at Mount Zion Church in Jefferson County. He died Jan. 20, 1998.

Mrs. ZUEHLKE graduated from Libertyville High School and the Ottumwa Beauty Academy. She owned and operated Marie's Beauty Shop in Eldon until retiring in 1982. She and her husband had made Eldon their home since 1950.

Mrs. ZUEHLKE was a member of Eldon United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a past member of National TTT Society Chapter I in Eldon.

She created all kinds of handiwork, crocheting, embroidering and quilting many items.

Survivors include two daughters, Carla BRENEMAN and husband Dean of Davenport and Rita SICKLE of Eldon; one granddaughter; one stepgrandson; and one sister, Gladys McDONOUGH of Ottumwa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one infant grandson; her parents; one brother, Raymond BOOTH; one sister, Mineta PRINGLE; and two sons-in-law, John SICKLE and John GOTTBERG.

ZUEHLKE, Marie Caroline -- Marie Caroline ZUEHLKE, age 89, Eldon, Iowa entered into new life on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center, Ottumwa, Iowa.

Marie was born on December 8, 1918 in Jefferson County to Charles and Jennie (BOWERS) BOOTH. Marie graduated from Libertyville High School and the Ottumwa Beauty Academy and owned and operated, "Marie's Beauty Shop" in Eldon retiring in 1982. On May 14, 1944 she married Walter W. ZUEHLKE at the Mt. Zion Church in Jefferson County. They had made Eldon their home since 1950. Walter preceded her in death on January 20, 1998.

Marie was a member of the Eldon United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and a past member of the National TTT Society Chapter I in Eldon. Marie was a devoted wife and mother and grandmother. Marie also created all kinds of handiwork, crocheting, embroidering and quilting many items that serve as treasured memories by loved ones for years to come.

She and Walter had 2 daughters, Carla BRENEMAN (husband Dean) of Davenport, Iowa and Rita SICKLE of Eldon, Iowa. A granddaughter, Dr. Lynn WISONG (husband Joshua) and a step-grandson, Christopher SICKLE (wife Miriana). She is also survived by one sister, Gladys McDONOUGH of Ottumwa, Iowa and 10 nieces and 5 nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, infant grandson Mark BRENEMAN, her parents, a brother, Raymond BOOTH, a sister, Mineta PRINGLE, and dtwo sons-in-law, John SICKLE and John GOTTBERG.

A celebration of Marie's life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 10:30 am at the Eldon United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Dvorak officiating. Interment will follow at the Eldon Cemetery, Eldon, Iowa. Open visitation will begin at 1 pm Friday at the Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, November 14, 2008. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Eldon United Methodist Church.
