Mabel E. BOOTH

Mabel E. BOOTH, age 92, formerly of Fairfield, IA, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008, at New Hampton Care Center in New Hampton, IA. Following her wishes, her body has been cremated.

Family visitation will be held Thursday, November 13, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 PM. Inurnment will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mabel Erma HICKS was born in Wapello County, IA on October 29, 1916 to Stanley and Allie (DOUGLAS) HICKS. She was the youngest of five children and was a 1934 graduate of Packwood High School. Mabel married John Carl BOOTH on January 30, 1935. He passed away March 2, 1998.

Mabel was a devoted wife and farm partner, raising two boys, Roland and Frank, and many, many chickens. She was a member of the First Christian Church (DOC) in Fairfield, and Maple Leaf Club. She was also a talented seamstress, working part-time for Patton's Sewing Center in Fairfield. She enjoyed dancing and playing the organ, She was a resident of Nelson Nursing Home before moving to New Hampton.

Mabel is survived by her grandchildren: Michael (Kimberly) BOOTH of New Hampton, IA; Becky McREE of Carrollton, TX; Vicki (Jeff) PARROTT of Burlington, IA; Robert BOOTH of Morning Sun, IA; Tammy DOTY of Mt. Pleasant, IA; twelve great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding Mabel in death were her parents; husband; both sons; granddaughter, Michelle DONALD; one sister, Rita RUGGLES; and three brothers, Carl, Howard, and Ray HICKS.
