PENROD, Richard B. -- Richard B. PENROD, 76, of 200 N. 28th St., Lot 84, died at 3:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at the Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

The funeral is set for 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery, with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post 33 American Legion.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Mr. PENROD was born Feb. 10, 1932, in Troy, the son of Lowell and Willa MOORE PENROD. He married Colberta C. "Colby" WEEKS March 23, 1961. She died May 20, 2008.

A graduate of Troy High School, he served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He farmed in the Milton-Troy area, working for Douds Stone for seven years before working as a custodian at Milton High School for 23 years, retiring in 1995.

He and his wife lived in the Troy and Milton area before moving to Fairfield in 1998.

Survivors include three daughters, Loe Dema L. FARRIER and Debra PENROD both of Fairfield and Lavena PFLUM of Edina, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
