NEFF, Ardith Darlene -- Ardith Darlene NEFF, 67, of Winfield, formerly of the Salina and Pleasant Plain areas, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Henry County Health Center emergency room in Mount Pleasant.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Clarence L. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 5-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to New London Junior Baseball Association.

Mrs. NEFF was born Sept. 3, 1940, in rural Trenton, the daughter of Chester Earl and Carrie ALTER MESSER. She married Fred Allen NEFF Nov. 26, 1961, in Trenton. The couple later divorced.

Mrs. NEFF graduated from Pleasant Plain High School. She went on to attend a finishing school in Omaha, Neb. She worked for a bank and an insurance agency in Fairfield. She later became a cook for Nelson Nursing Home and Fairfield Senior Citizen Center. She was a housekeeper for the Jefferson County Park Nature Center and finally worked at the BP Filling Station, both in Fairfield.

Mrs. NEFF lived nearly all her life in the Salina and Pleasant Plain areas, moving to Winfield just a year ago. For 30 years of that time, she made her home on the Salina Church Farm.

Mrs. NEFF was a member of Salina Presbyterian Church and served as the treasurer of the Dorcas Society of the church.

In her spare time, she enjoyed tending her flower garden. She also loved pets and animals.

Survivors include one son, Bob NEFF of Olds; three daughters, Judy NEFF of Winfield, Belinda OSBORN and husband Mike of Mountain View, Calif., and Carolee BENZ and husband Travis of New London; one brother, Phillip MESSER of Montezuma; and 10 granhdchildren.

Her parents preceded her in death.
