METZ, Mary DiAnn -- Mary DiAnn METZ, 57, of Fairfield, died from cancer Saturday, July 19, 2008, in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.

Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today at the church in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made, in lieu of flowers, to First United Methodist Church of Fairfield, Hospice of Central Iowa or St. James School of Washington, Iowa.

Cards and memorials may be sent to 205 N. Court St., Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. METZ was born June 6, 1951, in Nebraska City, Neb., the daughter of Edward and Greta Elizabeth BOETTNER MINCER. She married Michael METZ June 27, 1975, in Westboro, Mo.

Mrs. METZ earned a bachelor's degree in music from Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Mo. She was a wife, mother and teacher. She taught instrumental, vocal and piano for 15 years, most recently at St. James School in Washington, Iowa, and Salem School of the Mount Pleasant School District.

In addition to being a helpmate to her husband and his ministry, she often played for the 5 p.m. service at First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.

She was a member of the Koinonia Sunday School Class and P.E.O. She enjoyed flower gardening and baking chocolate chip cookies.

Survivors include her husband; three children, Heather METZ of Denver, Colo., Nathan METZ of Omaha, Neb., and Sean METZ of Des Moines; her parents; five siblings, Gary MINCER of Cape Canaveral, Fla., Craig MINCER of Lake Toxaway, N.C., Kerry Sue SCARDINA of Omaha, Neb., David MINCER of Hamburg and Marty MINCER of Hamburg.
