SLONAKER, Vera June -- Vera June SLONAKER, 89, died Monday, May 19, 2008, at Fountain West Health Care Center in West Des Moines.

A private family memorial service will be planned at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa Foundation, 402 Railroad Place, West Des Moines 50265.

Mrs. SLONAKER was born June 23, 1918, in Chicago, Ill.

Survivors include four children, Janet HAMPTON and husband Denny of Ankeny, Linda BRADLEY of West Des Moines, Larry SLONAKER and wife Connie of Birmingham and Terry SLONAKER and wife Loretta of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, William Percy; one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Geneva SLONAKER; her parents; four brothers; one sister; and two grandsons.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Birmingham, with the Rev. Mike Renken officiating.
