Page 8PECK, Ruth Ann -- Ruth Ann PECK, 81, of Fairfield, died at 11:55 AM. Friday, May 16, 2008 at Nelson Nursing Home. She was he daughter of Emil and rose (WILKENS) THIETJE. She was born September 21, 1926 in O'Brien County Iowa. She was united in marriage to Martin PECK on September 3, 1949 in Chicago, IL. They divorced in 1980.
Ruth was educated in rural school near her childhood home and graduated High School in Everly, Iowa, class of 1944. After teaching grade school and attending secretarial school, she moved to Chicago and worked for Quaker Oats and later Montgomery Wards as a teletype operator. Upon her marriage, she lived near Momence, IL, and lived on a farm where she started raising her four children. In August 1966, the family moved to Fairfield and lived on a farm south of town. She drove a school bus for Fairfield Community Schools until 1973. Ruth was very active in Girl Scouts and the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She also volunteered teaching adult literacy and enjoyed reading to elementary school children.
Preceding her in death were her ex-husband; her parents; and infant brother; one sister, Mary Louise THIETJE; and a brother, Emil Reimer THIETJE, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Floyd Martin PECK, John Emil (Charlotte) PECK, Katheryn Rose (Kent Rice) PECK, and Janet Louise PECK, all of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Shawn Martin (Winter) PECK of Streator, IL, Lisa Marie PECK of Madison, WI, Chris (Dan) DELANEY of Fairfield, and Hattie Wilson PECK of Fairfield; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Marie (Bud) WILSON of Sheldon, IA and Betty Jean (Lowell) SEIBERLING of Alma, WI; other relatives; and many friends.
Funeral services for Ruth Ann PECK will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairfield, IA with Pastor Mark Brase officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Family visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday evening, May 19, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, or donor's choice.
