WEHR, M. Louise -- M. Louise WEHR, 86, of Keota, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa, following a short illness.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church in Washington, Iowa, with the Rev. Ed O'Melia officiating. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established for St. James School or the M.L. McCreedy Home.

Mrs. WEHR was born Feb. 25, 1922, in East Pleasant Plain, the daughter of Matthew B. and Agnes M. GELSKI FRITZ. She married Harold J. WEHR June 3, 1947, at St. Joseph's Rectory in East Pleasant Plain. He died in 1967.

Mrs. WEHR attended school in East Pleasant Plain and graduated from Brighton High School in 1939. She later graduated from Parsons College in Fairfield with a teaching degree. Mrs. WEHR taught in several one-room schoolhouses including Hard Scrabble, Burr Oak, Black Hawk No. 7 and Harmony. Following her marriage, Mrs. WEHR was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the family farm operation.

Mrs. WEHR was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington, where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Antioch Neighborhood Club and Washington County Cancer Board and was an election worker for many years.

She enjoyed quilting, reading and taking care of the sheep and lambs.

Survivors include three sons, Ronald WEHR and wife Carol of Keota, Gary WEHR and wife Joan of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Randall WEHR and wife Jean of Washington, Iowa; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth BAUER of Quincy, Ill.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one son in infancy.
