THIRY, Willa M. 'Willie' -- Willa M. "Willie" THIRY, 72, of Ottumwa, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at home.

A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. Sue Babovec officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo.

Visitation begain at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Hospice, 312 E. Alta Vista, Ottumwa 52501.

Mrs. THIRY was born July 12, 1935, in Blackhawk County, the daughter of Edward and Beulah DeMOSS KEMP. She married Ed THIRY II June 24, 1989.

A graduate of Jesup High School, Mrs. THIRY had lived in Fairfield for 15 years before moving to Ottumwa in 1987. She and her husband moved to Marco Island, Fla., in 1997 and returned to Ottumwa in 2005. She had owned and operated Town Crier in Fairfield and worked for KBIZ and the Ottumwa Courier in the advertising department.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sue Ann McQUADE and husband Dave of Madison, Wis., and Beth Ellen WALTERS and husband Mel of Hixon, Tenn.; four sons, Gary HICKENBOTTOM and wife Roxanne of Wichita, Kan., Edward A. THIRY III of Erie, Pa., Andy THIRY and wife Judy of Bartlett, Tenn., and Robbie THIRY and wife Jill of Madrid; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six sisters, Mary Ellen SPEER of Warthin, Ga., Janice GRAHAM of Waterloo, Judy HOYE of Oklahoma City, Okla., Lynne KEMP of Naples, Fla., Jean SHEEDY of Ottumwa and Leigh Ann JAMES of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Allan William KEMP.
