HAMILTON, Henry 'Ham' Jackson -- Henry "Ham" Jackson HAMILTON, 82, of Washington, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Washington County Hospital in Washington following a brief illness.

A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Darryl Carr officiating. Interment, with military honors conducted by Henry County Honor Guard, will take place at Forest Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

Visitation began at noon today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6-7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established to the Washington Care Center.

Mr. HAMILTON was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Washington County, Iowa, the son of Ralph E. and Anna REEVES HAMILTON. He married Bina Louise DAVIS in Washington, Iowa. She preceded him in death. He later lived with his longtime companion Margaret ACKLES until her death in 1983.

Mr. HAMILTON attended school in Washington County. He worked at Henry County Mental Health until his retirement. He previously worked at Perfex and also at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. Following his retirement, he worked for Redlinger Sanitation in recycling for a brief time. He also did work as a painter and carpenter. He lived in Trenton.

Mr. HAMILTON was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming and woodworking.

Survivors include three stepchildren, Jim DEAO Sr. of West Chester, Linda POHREN and husband Jim of Mount Pleasant and Bob DEAO of Lockridge; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Bina and companion Margaret, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Pete HAMILTON; and one grandson.
