KERN, George H. -- George H. KERN, 59, of Marshalltown, died Thursday, March 13, 2008.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date in Emporia, Kan.

Mr. KERN was born Jan. 11, 1949, in Emporia, Kan., the son of William H. and Dorothy L. KERN.

Mr. KERN graduated from Roosevelt High School in Emporia in 1969. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy Reserves.

Mr. KERN's interests included antique cars, interior decorating, gardening and dancing.

Survivors include two brothers, Phillip KERN of Fairfield and David KERN of Harrisonville, Mo., and two sisters, Kay CHAPMAN of Harrisonville, Mo., and Jane SIXBEY of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
