SHOBE, Dorothy I. -- Dorothy I. SHOBE, 72, of rural Milton, died early Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at home.

A funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bryon Wixom officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 7-8 p.m.

Memorials to Van Buren County Public Health Nursing Service may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 16094 Highway 16 West, Douds 52551.

Mrs. SHOBE was born Oct. 31, 1935, near Keosauqua, the daughter of Leo A. and Beryl MERRICK MILLER. She married Robert E. SHOBE Nov. 7, 1954, at Keosauqua United Methodist Church. He died July 31, 2000.

Mrs. SHOBE graduated fro Keosauqua High School in 1954 and lived her life in Van Buren County. She and her husband farmed in the Troy and Milton area. She also was a home health aide with Van Buren County Public Health Nursing Service for the past 30 years.

Mrs. SHOBE was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women of Milton. She had been a Rainbow Girl and an American Legion Auxiliary member.

Survivors include four daughters, Betty LATHROP and husband Tom of Columbia. Mo., Susan MERCER of Douds, Shirley PETERSMA and husband Steve of Keosauqua and Peggy VANNOY of Rantoul, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dwight MILLER of Iowa City.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
