Marguerite R. WHITE, age 88, of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Visitation with the family pre-sent will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. Rev. Mike Metz will officiate.

Memorials may be made to McElhinny House, First United Methodist Church, or charity of choice.

Marguerite Rosalie WHITE was born October 28, 1918 in Ottumwa, IA, the daughter of John A. and Julia (WELLMAN) BALDWIN. She graduated from Eldon High School in 1935, and attended her 70th Class Reunion in June of 2005. Marguerite attended Parsons College in Fairfield.

Marguerite was united in marriage with Paul E. WHITE on April 18, 1937 in Unionville, MO. They were the parents of three daughters: Jackie Sue, Paula, and Roxie. Paul passed away July 27, 1988.

Marguerite was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She and Paul, along with his brother and sister-in-law were co-owners of the White T Grocery Store (now the HyVee Drugstore) from 1943-1970. Marguerite was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, and past President of the Fairfield's Women's Club.

Marguerite was active in Brownies, served as a Girl Scout Leader, as well as involved in her children's activities at the High School. She chaperoned two High School Band trips under Dillon Lowell, and enjoyed travelling abroad, and reading.

Surviving Marguerite are her children and their families: Jacqueline Sue UNKRICH of Cedar Rapids, IA, Paula & Mickey TALIAFERRO of Sylvania, OH, and Roxie & Richard SKAGGS of Fairfield, IA. She is grandmother to Darcey CORNWELL of Cedar Rapids, IA, Darla WATSON of Colorado Springs, CO, Jeff UNKRICH of Cedar Rapids, Chris SKAGGS of Iowa City, IA, Tammy CUNEO of Sylvania, OH, and Todd TALIAFERRO of Walled Lake, MI. Marguerite has 13 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sisters: Virginia MacKENZIE of Ruidoso, NM, and Joyce KEARNEY of Walnut Creek, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, and one half-brother, Stanley BALDWIN.
