SHIPLER, Roberta M. -- Roberta M. SHIPLER, 77, of Ottumwa, formerly of Batavia, died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at home.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Batavia Cemetery, with the Rev. David Albert officiating.

Open visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa. Family visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The casket will remain closed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon and Iowa Hospice, 201 High Ave. E, Oskaloosa 52577.

Mrs. SHIPLER was born Dec. 9, 1930, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Fred L. and Mary F. BISHOP ROBERTSON. She married David SHIPLER Dec. 24, 1958. He died Aug. 18, 2002.

Mrs. SHIPLER had worked at the Batavia Drive-In and the Batavia Quick Shop. She was a homemaker, and she and her husband farmed west of Batavia for 27 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Cathy IRWIN of Ottumwa, Tony McCLURE of Eldon and Darcy HEATON of Gresham, Ore.; one son, Todd SHIPLER of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Robert ROBERTSON; and one sister, Kathryn OSTDIEK.
