HOUSER, David Charles -- David Charles HOUSER, 79, of Cedaredge, Colo., died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007.

A musical tribute honoring Mr. HOUSER's life will be at 7 p.m. at the Jan. 12 Jamboree at Cedaredge Community Center.

Memorials may be made to the David C. HOUSER Memorial Fund and may be sent to US Bank, PO Box 339, Cedaredge, CO 81413.

Arrangements are in the care of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory. An online guest registry may be signed at taylorfuneralservice.com.

Mr. HOUSER was born Sept. 25, 1928, at Fort Lewis Army Base in Pierce, Wash., the son of Ralph Browning and Ruth Elizabeth HAYES HOUSER. He married Deloris "Lori" Darlene DOUTHART Oct. 9, 1950, in Bloomfield.

Mr. HOUSER's childhood was spent in Washington and Bonaparte. He lived with his paternal aunt Anna HOUSER DAVIS, and attended junior high and graduated from high school in Bonaparte in 1946. He then joined the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1949.

Mr. HOUSER worked in cable television for 20 years and traveled across the United States. He and his family settled in Montana where he retired after 16 years as an electrician for the Burlington-Northern Railroad. He and his wife moved to Cedaredge, Colo., where they spent the last ten years.

Mr. HOUSER enjoyed music, playing the guitar, banjo, mandolin and harmonica in the old-time folk tradition. He also was a storyteller. He always participated in the local Hootenanny and Jamboree.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Russell S. HOUSER and wife KC and Forrest W. HOUSER and wife Cherrye, all of Evergreen, Colo.; one brother, Ralph B. HOUSER Jr. of Vancouver, Wash.; and one half brother, Gordon SHADLE of Colby, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Fred D. HOUSER; one half brother, Glen SHADLE; and one grandson.
