WEBBER, Alberta Ruth -- Alberta Ruth WEBBER, 70, of rural Stockport, died at 1:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at home.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Stockport United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mike Renken officiating. Cremation has been accorded.

A gathering of family and friends will follow Friday's service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa in Mount Pleasant or to University of Iowa Hospital Chemo Suites in Iowa City.

Arrangements are in the care of Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield and Birmingham.

Mrs. WEBBER was born Nov. 8, 1937, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Roscoe Harry and Marjorie HAWKINS SIMMONS. She married Ed BURKHALTER, and they later divorced. She married Keith WEBBER in 1973.

Mrs. WEBBER grew up in the Chicago, Ill., area, and was raised by her aunt and uncle Leila and Delbert ALDERDICE. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1955. She had worked on the farm, as a scale master for Cessford Quarries, as a data entry clerk for local John Deere dealerships and and as a certified public accountant. She had served as Stockport's city clerk for the past nine years.

Mrs. WEBBER was a Sunday school teacher at Stockport United Methodist Church for many years.

She, with the help of her husband Keith, authored many of the "Dear Momma" letters for her husband's speaking engagements at various Lions Club events. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, going to dances, swimming, playing cards and spending time with family.

Survivors include her husband; three children, Beverly RUNYON and husband Robert of Stockport, Gwendolyn HOSKINS and husband Jim of Fairfield and Brent BURKHALTER and wife Teresa of Stockport; one daughter-in-law, Julie BURKHALTER of Chatsworth, Ill.; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; five stepchildren, Karmen ELICKSON and husband Joel of Marion, Krista HARTMAN and husband Larry of Burlington, Karlene McPHERSON and husband Harry of Simi Valley, Calif., K. Wesley WEBBER and Karla WEBBER-MOSER and husband Kevin of Burlington; seven stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Aldonna CARLO of Norwalk, Ellen MEYERS of Lineville, Ala., and Marcia COLLINS of Orlando, Fla.; and four brothers, Gene SIMMONS and John SIMMONS of Des Moines, Russell SIMMONS of St. Cloud, Minn., and Craig HOGG of Columbia, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Patricia CADE; and one son, Jeffrey BURKHALTER.
