SUTHERLIN, Mary Louise -- Mary Louise SUTHERLIN age 84 of 3000 West Madison Ave., Fairfield died at 1:10 A.M. Sunday, December 9, 2007 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Born August 25, 1923, north of Richland, Iowa, the daughter of Lee and Pauline ROBINSON HIATT.

Mary Louise graduated from Fairfield High School in 1940. She married Bill SUTHERLIN on April 4, 1943 at Libertyville. He preceded her on July 27, 1970.

Mary Louise was the receptionist at the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce for several years, managed the Fairfield Golf & Country Club, served as Jefferson County Clerk of District Court, and was a social worker for the State of Iowa Department of Human Services, before her retirement.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Mary Louise served on the Fairfield City Council for several years.

Deceased family members include her husband, her daughter Suzie HUGUNIN, a brother Eugene HIATT and her parents.

Surviving are her son David (Rita) SUTHERLIN of Charlotte, North Carolina, grandchildren Matt NELSON of Coralville,IA, Tena NELSON of Fairfield, and Andrea SUTHERLIN of Charlotte, N.C., one brother Robert (Jean) HIATT of Fairfield; one sister Lois (Gene) HAILE of Burlington, IA and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ben and Twila SUTHERLIN of Los Alamitos, CA., Bob and Darlene SUTHERLIN of Anchorage, Alaska, Sharon and Eldon WITTOFF of Mount Pleasant, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Metz officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Raymond Funeral Home.

A memorial has been established to the First United Methodist Church in Mary Louise SUTHERLIN's name.

The funeral arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.
