Vivian Retha Outland, 72, of Carlisle died from cancer at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines.

The body will be cremated and buried at a later date.

Mrs. Outland was born Aug. 4, 1933 in Fairfield, the daughter of Ralph J. and Retha Kessel. She married Michael Joynd. They later divorced. She married Lloyd Outland. He died in August of 2005.

Mrs. Outland attended Fairfield High School.

Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Labath of Long Grove, Debbie Lang of Davenport and Teri Garguilo of Aptos, Calif.; two sons, Kerry Joynd of Nashville, Tenn. and Steve Joynd of Florida; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Carter of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Helen Leeper of Ottumwa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
