CRABLE, Arnold VL -- Arnold VL CRABLE, 87, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, at his daughter's home.

A memorial service is planned at a later date.

A register may be signed from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Mr. CRABLE was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Clarinda, the son of Clyde and Stella RIDENOUR CRABLE. He married Betty WIMPSETT. He later married Marie E. MONTGOMERY Nov. 15, 1969, in Lancaster, Mo. She died Feb. 15, 1992.

Mr. CRABLE lived most of his life in the Fairfield area. He was an electrician for Louden Company for many years. He had most recently been living with his daughter Peggy SIDWELL.

He was a World War II Army veteran and had many honors, including five Bronze Stars, and he was a driver for Gen. Patton. He also retired from the Army National Guard.

Mr. CRABLE enjoyed fishing. He was a member of Eagles Club No. 1927, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2271 and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie BAILY and husband David of Pleasant Plain and Peggy SIDWELL and husband Kenneth of Fairfield; one stepson, Leonard MATHIAS; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one brother, Marvin CRABLE of Mount Pleasant.

In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Penny GLASS; two sisters, Florence BYERS and Helen KELLER; four brothers, George, Walter, Melvin and Clyde CRABLE.
