Eivind "Ed" Brokken, longtime resident of Jefferson County, died Monday, 5:55 p.m at Jefferson County Hospital. Burial will be in Union Cemetery east of Fairfield. He was born March 20, 1895 in Norway, son of Eivind and Ingeborg Brokken; came to the U.S. in 1914 and served in the U.S. Army during World War I. Married Mabel Tilford who died in 1928. Nov. 4, 1929, he married Anna Leu; she died Oct. 21, 1968. He was also preceded in death by one child, one grandchild and a brother. Farmed the same place for about 40 years. Family home was at 201 E. Adams. He was a member of the Methodist Church and American Legion. He is survived by children: Wallace and Leo, both of Fairfield; Ray, Corvallis, Ore.; Thomas, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Max Heston, Brentwood, Mo; Mrs. Ray Kautz and Mrs. Larry Terrill, both of Muscatine; and Sonja Brokken, Rockford, Ill; 25 grandchildren; also two brothers and two sisters residing in Norway.
