HUGHES, Kenneth -- Kenneth HUGHES, 97, of Keosauqua, died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

HUGHES, F. Kenneth -- F. Kenneth HUGHES, 97, of Keosauqua, died at 4;15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. ellis andrews (sic - lower case) officiating. Burial will be in Harness Cemetery in Mount Sterling.

Family visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials to Harness Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at Route 2, Box 69, Kahoka, MO 63445.

Mr. HUGHES was born June 9, 1910, in Van Buren County, the son of Charles W. and Alma HACKARD HUGHES. He married Mary DaVOLT Feb. 14, 1968. She died March 16, 1978. He married Grace WALKER BENNETT Oct. 23,1994. She died May 7, 2003.

Mr. HUGHES graduated from Keosauqua High School. He farmed and raised cattle in Scotland County, Mo., south of Mount Sterling. He retired to a new home south of Keosauqua in 1974. He later moved to Country Lane Apartments in Keosauqua and the Good Samaritan Center in 2003.

Mr. HUGHES was a long-time trustee of Harness Cemetery. He was particular about caring for the cemetery, as well as his lawn. He enjoyed walking.

Survivors include two step-daughters, Christine WISE of Albert. Colo., and Kay ROUSH of Keosauqua; six stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.

In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leonard and Noel HUGHES; and one sister, Charlotte MYERS.
