From the FAIRFIELD TRIBUNE, Wed., Sept. 19, 1900, Page 6, col. 5.

A PIONEER GONE.
On Thursday, Sept. 13, 1900, Mr. Peter Hisel, well known and highly respected citizen of Glasgow......born in Belgium Apr. 2, 1832. Being the eldest he made up his mind to come to America. In the year of 1853 he started, being two months on board the vessel. He first landed at St. Louis and was so well pleased with the surroundings that he at once sent for his parents, brothers and sisters. And had it not been for "Uncle Peter" the Hisels would never have seen America.
He was married 32 years ago to Miss Christine Liblin, who, with six children, survives him. Mary and John are married and live at Grinnell; Lizzie, wife of Alex Carmichael; Louie, who lives close to home; Jennie and Grace still at home to comfort a sorely bereaved mother. He also leaves two brothers and two sisters: Joe and Louis Hisel, Mrs. Dalmas of Wapello, and Mrs. Hozette of Glasgow. Remains laid to rest in the Glasgow cemetery.
