PAXTON, Irma Marie

Irma Marie PAXTON, 71, of Marion, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Garnett Place in Cedar Rapids.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ascension Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Linda Livingston officiating. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wright Cemetery in Fairfield.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion and from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ascension Lutheran Church caring fund.

Mrs. PAXTON was born Sept. 8, 1935, in Council Bluffs, the daughter of Duane and Erma DILLEHAY. She married Gordon L. PAXTON. He died Aug. 9, 1986.

Mrs. PAXTON was baptized May 5, 1942, and confirmed in 1951 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs. She was also a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and the quilting club at the church.

She enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and caring for animals.

Survivors include three children, Bobby PAXTON and wife Sheryl of Minneapolis, Minn., Donetta WALTERS and husband Roger of Shueyville and Mary PAXTON of Marion; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Clara JOHANNES of Council Bluffs.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Clifford PAXTON; and one brother, Roy EVERHART.
