WALKER, William -- William WALKER, 82, of Brighton, died at 3:40 a.m. today, Friday, June 22, 2007, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa.

Arrangement (sic) are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

WALKER, William Brice -- William Brice WALKER, 82, of Brighton, died at 3:40 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2007, at Washington County Hospital.

A graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Middletown Cemetery in Middletown, with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Burlington Area Honor Guard.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, with the family present from 6-7:30 p.m.

A memorial for the American Cancer Society has been established. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or mailed to PO Box 149, Brighton 52540.

Mr. WALKER was born March 2, 1925, in Memphis, Mo., the son of Morris A. and Roxibelle KASER WALKER Sr. He married Ruby F. INGERSOLL Oct. 26, 1946, in Kahoka, Mo. She died in January 1986.

Mr. WALKER attended country school (sic) in the Memphis area and graduated from Memphis High School in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He farmed in the Mexico, Mo., and Ainsworth and Washington areas until he moved to Middletown. Mr. WALKER worked for the Embalming Burial Case Co. in Burlington then as a machinist for Murry Iron Works in Burlington until he retired in 1982 due to a stroke. He moved to Brighton in 1991 and to the Washington Care Center in 2006.

Mr. WALKER was a member of Middletown Presbyterian Church, a 60-year member of the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial Post No. 4958 of Memphis, Mo., and was active in the Southeastern Iowa Trail Riders Association.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Kay WHEELER of Brighton and Bonnie Kathryn CRISWELL and husband Richard of Piketon, Ohio; one son, William "Willie" WALKER of Brighton; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Morris A. WALKER Jr. and Joe Tom WALKER, both of Memphis, Mo.; and three sisters, Shirlie M. BIGGS of Platte City, Mo., Mary Ann FOLEY of Springfield, Mo., and Alice R. WHITE of Troy.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth WALKER.
