CRILE, Bernard Edmund -- Bernard Edmund CRILE, 91, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Pella Comfort House in Pella.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Fellowship Bible Church in Oskaloosa, with the Rev. Bryan Latchaw and the Rev. Don Job officiating. Interment will follow at White Oak Cemetery in Mahaska County.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel, with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Pella Comfort House.
Mr. CRILE was born Oct. 7, 1915, in Germanville, the son of Adam Edmund and Minnie K. JORDAN CRILE.
Mr. CRILE attended Lockridge School which was a one-room school house near Germanville. In 1926, his family moved north of Fremont where he continued to live throughout his adult life. He began farming with his father and later purchased the farm adjacent to his father. There he began his own farming operation where he lived until 1995 when he moved to Oskaloosa.
Mr. CRILE served in several capacities with the Lutheran Church, including as Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and as a member of the church board. He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church.
He enjoyed farming and liked two cylinder John Deere tractors.
Survivors include three sons, Lee CRILE and wife Sandy of Huntingdon, Pa., Wayne CRILE and wife Sally of Leighton and David CRILE and wife Julie of New Sharon; one daughter, Linda LANPHIER and husband Howard of Oskaloosa; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; three sisters, Lucille De WITT of Ottumwa, Virginia SYSTMA of Oskaloosa and Maxine MARTIN of Delta; and two daughter-in-laws, Donna CRILE of Oskaloosa and Dian CRILE of Huntingdon, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma, who died March 8, 1977; two sons, Richard Michael CRILE and Steven CRILE; one daughter, Betty RICHARDSON; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter in infancy; one sister in infancy, Mary; and one caring friend, Elgie BAKER.
