DICKINSON, Earl W. -- Earl W. DICKINSON, 92, formerly of Brighton, died at 3:15 a.m. today, Friday, June 15, 2007, at Parkview Manor in Wayland.
A service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cottonwood United Methodist Church near Wayland, with Dr. Curtis Lamansky and the Rev. Robert Patton officiating. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery.
Visitation, with the family present, will be 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.
Memorials to Brighton Lions Club may be mailed to the family at 1960 335th St., Brighton 52540.
Mr. DICKINSON was born Aug. 21, 1914, on the home farm east of Brighton, the son of Scott and Mabel HYDE DICKINSON. He married Ruth Eva DAVISON Jan. 9, 1936. She died in November 1981.
Mr. DICKINSON grew up in the Brighton area and attended Riverside Country School and Brighton High School. He farmed his entire life and sold MFA Insurance and Nature's Fertilizer for many years. He had lived at Parkview Manor since April 2006.
Mr. DICKINSON was a member of Cottonwood United Methodist Church. He was a member of Brighton Chamber of Commerce, Toastmasters of Washington and Brighton Lions Club.
He was an outdoorsman and conservationist who raised quail and pheasant for release.
Survivors include two daughters, Georgia BAKER and husband Robert of Washington and Jeanette GRAVELLE and husband George of Greenville, S.C.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a special friend, Beverly HOOTMAN.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wayne.
