ULM, Merna Rose -- Merna Rose ULM, 90, of Fairfield, died Monday evening, Jan. 8, 2007, at Jefferson County Hospital following a brief illness.

A funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield. Following the committal service at Evergreen Cemetery, family and friends are invited to Walton Club.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital, The Kidney Foundation and the Cancer Foundation.

Mrs. ULM was born Jan. 25, 1916, in Story County, the daughter of John and Anna DAVID BALLARD. She married Maynard ULM Feb. 21, 1933, in Des Moines. He died June 22, 1995.

Mrs. ULM and her husband moved to Fairfield in 1952. They owned and operated Mayn's Grocery and Family Café. She also sold Stanley products.

Mrs. ULM enjoyed golf, fishing, flowers, bowling, cooking and family.

Survivors include two sons, Don ULM and wife Norma of Fairfield and Dick ULM of Payson, Ariz.; one daughter, Karla FERREL and husband Vic of Fairfield; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and three sisters.
