SMITH, Lowell M. -- Lowell M. SMITH, 82, of Richmond, Va., died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, in Richmond.

A memorial service was held at River Road Presbyterian Church in Richmond.

Mr. SMITH was born March 12, 1924, in Linby, the son of L. C. "Sam" and Blanche CRAIG SMITH.

Mr. SMITH attended school in Linby and graduated from Packwood High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army with the Rainbow Division in Europe. He completed a civil engineering degree at Iowa State University in 1948 and served as an associate professor there. He was a retired engineer and banker.

Survivors include his wife, Lois; one son, Michael SMITH of Richmond; one daughter, Shery CHATTERON of Westminster, Md.; one brother, Cloyd C. SMITH of Fairfield; and two grandchildren.
