PFEIFER, Timothy Chris -- Timothy Chris PFEIFER, 42, of Richland, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Washington County Hospital following a lengthy illness.

A service was held this morning at First Christian Church in Washington, with the Rev. Richard Boyd officiating. Interment, with military honors by Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard, will be in Friends Cemetery in Richland.

A memorial has been established for First Christian Church.

Mr. PFEIFER was born Aug. 29, 1964, in Fairfield, the son of Robert and M. Joyce JONES PFEIFER.

Mr. PFEIFER attended school in Pekin and graduated from Pekin High School in 1983. He attended Hyles Anderson College in Crown Point, Ind.

Mr. PFEIFER served in the U.S. Air Force from 1985 until 1992. He was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Neb., and served in Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He was a four-year member of NEACP, "Kneecap," a national emergency command post that provided backup for Air Force One. Mr. PFEIFER flew with NEACP on several presidential support missions.

Following his time in the military, Mr. PFEIFER attended Indian Hills Community College, where he received his associate's degree in electronic telecommunications. He worked for U.S. Cellular for 12 years as a communications engineer. He retired in 2006. He had worked as a Washington Reserve Police Officer.

Mr. PFEIFER was a member of First Christian Church in Washington, Iowa, National Rifle Association, Washington Lions Club where he served as president and Cedar Crest Golf Course. He was a life member of PGA Partners Club.

He enjoyed golfing, motorcycle riding and woodworking.

Survivors include his parents of Richland; three brothers, Davd PFEIFER of Oskaloosa, Steve PFEIFER of Fairfield and Mark PFEIFER of Crown Point, Ind.; and his twin sister, Tammy GARDNER of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
