MEIEROTTO, Gilbert Conrad -- Gilbert Conrad MEIEROTTO, 75, of Salem, died at 1:32 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007, at home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Houghton, with the Rev. Apo Mpanda officiating.
Open visitation began at 2 p.m. today at the church, where a rosary was recited at 3 p.m. Family visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m., with a Christian Wake Service at 6 p.m.
Memorials to St. John's Catholic Church or Hospice of Central Iowa may be left at the church.

Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. MEIEROTTO was born April 17, 1932, in Lee County, the son of Conrad and Marie KRUSE MEIEROTTO. He married Doris HELLWEG May 29, 1954, in St. Paul. She died May 27, 1989. He married Roberta KEINTZ STATLER Feb. 28, 1998 in Houghton.
Mr. MEIEROTTO was a farmer and lifelong resident of the Salem area. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. MEIEROTTO was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. He was an honorary lifetime member of Knights of Columbus in Houghton and a member of Loyal Order of the Moose Burlington Lodge No. 579.
He enjoyed traveling, dancing and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Kenneth MEIEROTTO and wife Mary Lou of Mountain Grove, Mo., Wayne MEIEROTTO and wife Nadine of Mount Pleasant and Dale MEIEROTTO and wife Jamie of Newnan, Ga.; one daughter, Barbara HOOVER and husband Rick of Chico, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Dawn FLAATTEN and husband Eric of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Lori STATLER of St. Paul, Minn; four sisters, JoAnn HOLTKAMP of Donnellson, Mary Jane MONTGOMERY of West Point, Pauline KOCH of Bettendorf and Carleen BLACK of Ottumwa; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sharon BROWNE; and one sister, Doretta MENKE.
