DOEHRMANN, Earl Rudolph -- Earl Rudolph DOEHRMANN, 75, of Iowa City, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City, with the Rev. Tim Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be sent via www.gayandciha.com .
Mr. DOEHRMANN was born June 1, 1931, on the family farm in rural Iowa County, the son of Rudolph and Loretta GLANDORF DOEHRMANN. He married Dorothy SPENLER Sept. 7, 1956, at St. Paul's Chapel in Iowa City.
Following graduation from Williamsburg High School in 1949, Mr. DOEHRMANN served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. For more than 30 years, he worked with his brother-in-law at Spenler Tire. He later worked at University of Iowa, and in his retirement at Dave Long Products.
Mr. DOEHRMANN was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir for many years. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, gardening and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Sherry WESTHOFF and husband Paul of Kenosha, Wisc., Chris DOEHRMANN and wife Julie of New Brighton, Minn., and Nancy DOEHRMANN of Rubio; seven grandchildren; and eight siblings, Orville DOEHRMANN of Stryker, Okla., Alice GRISHAM of Cedar Rapids, Ronald DOEHRMANN of Williamsburg, Loraine GRIMM of North English, Verne DOEHRMANN of Williamsburg, Larry DOEHRMANN of Cedar Rapids, Kathy RUDIN of Conroy and Dale DOEHRMANN of North English.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ethel HULL; and one brother, Dean DOEHRMANN.
