Thelma L. BARRY

Thelma L. BARRY, 90, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Oelwein Healthcare Center in Oelwein, Iowa after a brief illness.

Funeral Service: Memorial Graveside Service at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the Evergreen Cemetery at Fairfield, Iowa; Visitation: from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 23, 2007 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Oelwein Healthcare Center at Oelwein, Iowa.

Thelma is survived by: Daughter and Son-in-law -- Jodie and Mike THEOBALD of Iowa City, Iowa; Son and Daughter-in-law -- Jon A. BARRY and Chris PIPER of Rochester, Minnesota; grandchildren -- Natalie BARRY and Sydney BARRY both of Rochester, Minnesota, Leigha and Rico TAYLOR of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Abbie and Michael NIEPRAWSKI of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Drew THEOBALD of Iowa City, Iowa; Great Grandchildren -- Rain TAYLOR and Rylan TAYLOR of Kenosha, Wisconsin; Sister -- Doris SCOTT of West Branch, Iowa; Nephew -- Jim SCOTT of West Branch, Iowa; Niece -- Julie SCOTT of Iowa City, Iowa; And the wonderful staff that cared for her at the Oelwein Healthcare Center -- the rest of her family thanks you for the loving care you gave her.

She was preceded in death by her Parents and a Brother-in-Law -- G.W. (Warren) SCOTT.

Thelma Lucille FISCHER was born on December 9, 1916, at Tulare County, California near Porterville, the daughter of Karl and Lucille Adeline (ANDERSON) FISCHER. After the death of her father, from the Spanish influenza in 1918, the family moved back to Iowa. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1934 at Fairfield, Iowa. Thelma married William (Al) BARRY. The couple moved to Oelwein in the early 1950s. They were later divorced. Thelma lived in Oelwein over forty years. After residing in Iowa City and Stewartville, Minnesota, she moved to the Oelwein Healthcare Center in 2006. Thelma worked as a secretary, bookkeeper and homemaker. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, walking, dancing, chocolate, and spending time with her family.
