Bessie DOOLEY, 98, of Fairfield, died at 12:05 a.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral home in Douds.

Bessie M. DOOLEY, 98, of Fairfield died at 12:05 A.M. Tuesday Dec. 12, 2006 at Parkview Care Center, Fairfield.

She was born July 6, 1908 near Selma to Charley and Retta Roush KUNZMAN. She married Dean DOOLEY who preceded her in death March 17, 1995.

She graduated from Douds High School in 1927. She and her husband farmed in the Douds-Selma area and retired to Fairfield in 1976. She had also been a cook at the Selma school.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Fairfield, United Methodist Women, had been a member of the former Douds Ladies Aid, Silver Circle Club, several bridge clubs and was a quilter.

Surviving are a son, Dwain DOOLEY and wife, Jane of Fairfield, a daughter, Janet GILCHRIST and husband, Kenneth of Douds, five grandchildren, Deanna HARRISON and husband, David, Ann GOOKIN and husband Myron, Karen ROWE and husband, T.J., Lora COLTER and husband, Chris and Kyle GILCHRIST and wife, Amy, 14 great-grandchildren, a stepgreat-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, Ruth GLASSFORD, Emma KOOGLER, Bernice HAMILTON and Marjorie ROUSH and a brother, Sam KUNZMAN.

Funeral services will be at 10 A.M. Thursday Dec. 14, 2006 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, Rev. Mike Metz and Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.

Visitation will open at 3 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with family present 4-5 P.M.

Memorials to Mt. Moriah Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 14050 Hwy. 16, Douds, IA 52551.
