Bill BROWN, 80, formerly of Batavia, died Saturday evening, Jan. 14 at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Stephen C. Page officiating. Burial will be in Eldon Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with family present from 5:30-7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Batavia Lions Club or the American Diabetes Association.

George William BROWN was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Ottumwa, the son of George A. and Mary M. Knecht BROWN.

Mr. Brown lived most of his life in the Batavia community where he and his brother, Gerald, farmed in partnership. He graduated from Troy High School. He served on the Jefferson County ASCS committee for several years and worked for the ASCSS office.

Mr. BROWN was a charter member of the Batavia Lions Club, St. Mary Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Elks.

Survivors include his two sisters, Barbara BROWN of Fairfield and Betty J. FENN and husband Ken of Washington; his sister-in-law, Ruth BROWN of Batavia; and six nieces and nephews.

I addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald BROWN.
