Oldest Citizen--

Mrs. CURRAY Dies At 103

Mrs. Emma M. CURRAY, Jefferson County's oldest citizen, died Sunday at 5:15 p.m. at the Nelson Nursing Home. She was 103.

Last rites will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. CURRAY was born on a farm near Batavia Sept. 21, 1865, only five months after the close of the Civil War. She was the daughter of James and Jane HILL COLLINS. She was reared and educated in the Batavia area.

She was married to Joseph A. CURRAY Nov. 24, 1886. They operated a farm near Batavia until 1918 when they moved to Des Moines. They lived in California from 1934 until Mr. CURRAY's death in 1944. Since then Mrs. CURRAY had made her home in Fairfield.

Mrs. CURRAY is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J. R. FRESCOLN, Batavia; and one son, Roy CURRAY, LaJolla, Calif. Also surviving are six grandchildren, 12 great - grandchildren and one great - great - granddaughter.

Six brothers and sisters and one great - granddaughter preceded her in death.

Mrs. CURRAY was a member of the Methodist Church and the Women's Christian Temperance Union. She remained alert and active until well past her 100th birthday.

Mrs. CURRAY was undaunted by fractured hips, suffered in 1956 and 1959. In both cases she recovered after surgery and hospitalization. She marked her 100th anniversary at a series of events in 1965.

NOTICE OF PROBATE OF WILL, OF APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTOR, AND NOTICE TO CREDITORS

In The District Court Of The State Of Iowa In And For Jefferson County

In The Matter Of The Estate Of Emma M. CURRAY, Deceased.

To All Persons Interested In The Estate of Emma M. CURRAY Deceased:

You are hereby notified that on the 28th day of April, 1969, the Last Will and Testament of Emma M. CURRAY deceased bearing date of the 5th day of August, 1961, First Codicil dated December 20th, 1961, and Second Codicil dated July 28th, 1962, were admitted to probate in the above named Court and that Mabel CURRAY FRESCOLN and Roy E. CURRAY were appointed co-executors of said estate.

Notice is further given that any action to set aside said Will must be brought in the District Court of said County within one year from the date of the second publication of this notice, or thereafter be forever barred.

Notice is further given that all persons indebted to said estate are requested to make immediate payment to the undersigned, and creditors having claims against said estate shall file them with the Clerk of the above named District Court, as provided by law, duly authenticated, for allowance; and unless so filed within six months from the second publication of this notice (unless otherwise allowed or paid) such claim shall thereafter be forever barred.

Note: Buried in Lot Old.P.355. Husband Joseph was initially buried in the Fairfield Abbey, a mausoleum which stood in the 6th Addition of Evergreen Cemetery, and was moved to Lot Old.P.355 when the Abbey was closed and torn down due to deterioration in the 1960s.
