Ben R. BIGGS, 72, of rural Birmingham died at 12:10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

A service is set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 7-8 p.m. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 21563 110th St., Birmingham 52535.

Mr. BIGGS was born June 21, 1933, in Arbelo, Mo., the son of Robert E. and Martha Russell BIGGS. He married Ethel LAUGHLIN July 23, 1976 in Keosauqua.

Mr. BIGGS graduated from Granger High School in Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1956 where he graduated from mechanic and welding schools. He operated Biggs Texaco Station and Wrecker Service for 30 years and later was employed by Barker Co., Ltd., both in Keosauqua.

He also served several years on Keosauqua City Council.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gary BIGGS of Boyne Falls, Mich., Bryan BIGGS of Fairfield and Bruce BIGGS of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Cynthia CLAWSON of Fairfield; one stepson, Rex STUTZMAN of Keosauqua; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia SHELLEY of Memphis, Mo.; and two brothers, Joedd BIGGS of Platte City, Mo., and Robert Tipton BIGGS of Omaha, Neb.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn DOUD.
