Marie A. BARNETT, 94, of Brighton died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Washington County Hospital in Washington.

A private service will be held at a later date at Sandy Hook Cemetery near Brighton, with the Rev. Charles J. Fladung officiating.

Memorials have been established to the Brighton Volunteer First Responders and the Brighton Volunteer Fire Department.

Mrs. BARNETT was born Oct. 23, 1911, in Fairfield, the daughter of Joseph Leo and Takel Biskey DRISH. She married Cloyce “Barney” BARNETT Feb. 4, 1936, in Pleasant Plain. He died Dec. 24, 1998.

Mrs. BARNETT attended Libertyville schools. She was a housewife and lived most of her life in the Douds and Brighton areas, except for 17 years spent in Longmont and Loveland, Colo. She returned to Iowa in 1986 and lived in Brighton until moving into the Washington Care Center in June of 2003.

Survivors include one sister, Frances DRISH of California and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Leo, Anthony, Clarence, Donald and George; and three sisters, Nell RYDEN, Irene DRISH and Angeline VANCE.
