Lucille C. ARONSON, 88, of Bettendorf died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, in Muscatine.

A Celebration of Life service is set for 10 a. m. Friday at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in New Sweden Lutheran Cemetery in Lockridge.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to New Sweden Lutheran Church or to the Scott County Humane Society. Online condolences may be sent via www.weertsfh.com.

Mrs. ARONSON was born Oct. 17, 1917, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Fred and Minnie Carlson O’DEAN. She married Mahlon ARONSON July 1, 1939, in New Sweden Lutheran Church. He died in 1988.

Mrs. ARONSON was a solderer at Bendix Aviation Corporation in Davenport until 1967 when she began a new career as a real estate agent for Mel Foster Company. She retired in 2000, after having won many real estate awards. Mrs. ARONSON was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport, the American Business Women’s Association, Women of the Moose, American Association of Retired Persons, and the Swedish Heritage Society in Swedesburg. She had been active in Shriners and Mohasson Grotto.

She enjoyed cooking, holidays, road trips, dressing up, NASCAR races, the Kentucky Derby, the Miss America Pageant and soap operas.

Survivors include four daughters, Nancy COONEY and husband Richard of Hampton, Ill., Sue THOMPSON, Barb BORDEN, and Diane ARONSON, all of Davenport; two sisters, Margaret “Peg” Swenson VAN TUYL of Mount Pleasant and Ruth RATEKIN of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert; and one infant grandson.
