Bernice Elizabeth 'Biddie' RAYMOND

Bernice Elizabeth "Biddie" RAYMOND, 96, of Fairfield died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2001, at the Long Term Care unit of the Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Kent officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. at the funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. RAYMOND was born Aug. 9, 1904, in Fairfield, the daughter of Charles A. and Anna SCHUTZ GIBSON. She married J. Arthur CULBERTSON. He died in 1938. She married Cedric M. RAYMOND June 21, 1947, in Burlington. He died April 1, 1982.

A lifetime resident of Fairfield, she graduated from Fairfield High School and Fort Madison Business College. She worked for 13 years at the Iowa Electric Light and Power Company office. She spent 28 years as a secretary and bookeeper for Eclipse Lumber Company and five years at the Gamrath and Thoma Insurance Agency.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Chapter E TTT and Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are her stepchildren and their children; and two sister-in-laws (sic).

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Frank H. GIBSON.
