Delpha L. UMPHREY, 90, of Keosauqua, died at 12:25 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

A service was at 2 p.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bryon Wixom officiating. Burial was in Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua.

Memorials may be made to Van Buren Good Samaritan Center and left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 310, Keosauqua 52565.

Mrs. UMPHREY was born Feb. 13, 1916, in Lee County, the daughter of Jasper and Mary Anders SMITH. She married George D. UMPHREY June 5, 1935, in Fairfield. He died Oct. 31, 1978.

Mrs. UMPHREY graduated from Farmington High School and taught rural school. She worked with her husband and son at Van Buren Abstract Company and UMPHREY Insurance Agency for more than 50 years.

Mrs. UMPHREY was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church. She also was a member of PEO Chapter I of Keosauqua and Order of Eastern Star Twin City Chapter No. 258 of Douds.

Survivors include two daughters, Lorene GASTON and husband Ned of Keosauqua and Darla DAVIS and husband Walter of Alpharetta, Ga.; one son, Dean UMPHREY and wife Marilyn of Douds; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Verna KNEDLER of Farmington.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Archie and Lawrence SMITH; and three sisters, Minnie SMITH, Lula PICKARD and Leota OVERTON.
