Charles R. SHRINER, 80, formerly of Libertyville, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, in Madera, Calif. when he was struck by a truck.

Interment will be in Mount Pleasant.

Mr. SHRINER was born June 14, 1926, the son of Hugh M. and Merrie Thomsom SHRINER.

Mr. SHRINER grew up and attended school in Libertyville. Following high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II. After the war, he graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant. He taught school for many years in Iowa, but spent most of his life in Madera, Calif., where he taught for 36 years.

Survivors include two step-daughters, Georgia WEDDEL and Melonie ARMSTRONG; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roma; his parents; two sisters, Margaret Agnes SHRINER and Kathryn Foxx CLOUSE; and one brother, Marquis.
