Helen Elaine Trusty SHRIVER, formerly of Keosauqua and Mount Pleasant, died Friday, May 5, 2006, at Keokuk County Care Center in Sigourney.

Mrs. SHRIVER was born Nov. 12, 1922, on her family’s farm near Ionia in Chickasaw County. She married Eldon R. SHRIVER, who was the superintendent of schools in Keosauqua, Garrison, Tripoli and Jackson County. He died in 1968.

Mrs. SHRIVER was a resident of Maquoketa for 41 years and was the administrative secretary for the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency in Maquoketa until her retirement in 1987. She moved to the Sunnybrook Assisted Living home in Mount Pleasant in April of 2005, and lived there until November when she suffered a heart attack.

Survivors include two sons, L. B. SHRIVER of Birmingham and T. A. SHRIVER of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
