Fri., June 9, 2006, p. 12.Donna Grace RUSK, 62, of rural Mount Pleasant, died at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. John Royer officiating. Burial will be in Grant Cemetery in rural Rome.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. RUSK was born Aug. 20, 1943, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Edward Oren and Ada Grace Scarff HENDRICKS. She married Thomas Lee RUSK Jan. 26, 1964, at Rome Baptist Church.
Mrs. RUSK graduated from Mount Pleasant High School. She also graduated from a cosmetology college in Burlington and received her associate’s degree in robotics, computer and laser technology from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. She owned and operated a beauty salon in Fairfield for a time. She assisted her husband with the operation of Rusk Construction Company, not only as the bookkeeper, but with the construction work itself. She also assisted with the operation of Hendricks’ Lake, a campground the family owned.
Mrs. RUSK was a member of Rome Baptist Church. She and her husband gardened and were active in the Mount Pleasant Farmer’s Market.
She enjoyed painting and attending her grandchildren’s activities, including numerous sporting and musical events.
Survivors include her husband; two children, Edward RUSK and Terri CAMELIN and husband William, all of Mount Pleasant; one sister, Edna JOHNSON of Indianola; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
