LaVerne F. PYLE, 85, of Fairfield, died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

Family visitation will be Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Fairfield and sent to Mrs. PYLE at Parkview Care Center, 2237 Highway 34 East, Fairfield 52556.

Mr. PYLE was born April 28, 1921, in Eldon, the son of Eschel and Virgie Lester PYLE. He married Frances W. Feldman Nov. 19, 1944, in Bentenville, S. C.

Mr. PYLE graduated from Eldon High School and attended one year of the Iowa Success School in Ottumwa. He owned and operated Pyle’s Dry Cleaners in Eldon for 10 years and repaired bicycles at Pyle Bike Shop for 18 years.

Mr. PYLE was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. PYLE was a member of First Baptist Church and VFW Post 2271 in Fairfield.

He was a musician, playing the accordion, the musical keyboard and the saw. He enjoyed wood-working and making puppets and was a ventriloquist with his partner Arky.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Louise HARWOOD of Fairfield and Jeannie Lou TRITT of Houma, La.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ardith RUSSELL of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Larue PYLE.
