Mon., Oct. 30, 2006, p. 10.Beulah "Maxine" PICKERING, 86, of Pleasant Plain, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at M. L. McCreedy Home in Washington, Iowa.
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Plain Friends Church, with the Rev. Stan Bauer and the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Plain Friends Cemetery near the church.
Open visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton with family present from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. PICKERING was born Feb. 19, 1920, in Harrold, S.D., the daughter of Verne and Glennie Henry WOLFE. She married Cloyce PICKERING June 8, 1936, in Newton. He died Aug. 17, 1979.
Mrs. PICKERING lived in South Dakota until moving to Iowa when she was 12. She was a homemaker and operated her own beauty salon in Pleasant Plain.
She was a member of Pleasant Plain Friends Church.
Survivors include two sons, Francis of East Pleasant Plain and Lonnie PICKERING and wife Karen of Richland; two daughters, Kay WHITAKER and husband Les of Pleasant Plain and Debbie DUNBAR and husband Jim of Pleasant Plain; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wayne “Ordell” WOLFE of Washington.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers.
